PRP – Platelet-rich Plasma Microneedling

PRP microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure wherein a device rolls tiny needles over the skin to create microscopic channels, otherwise known as micro-injuries. This stimulates the body's natural healing response and as a result, the skin's appearance is rejuvenated, and signs of ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage are diminished. PRP treatment can also be used to reduce the appearance of acne scars, dark spots, and large pores and improve overall skin texture.

PRP facials are not considered medical procedures, but rather cosmetic procedures. A sample of your blood will be taken by our nurse practitioner and this will then be processed in a centrifuge system which isolates the protein-rich plasma and platelets (which are removed). The sample is then concentrated and this is what is called platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The high levels of growth factors in the PRP help the body to heal the micro-injuries and promote the growth of collagen.

This procedure is not recommended for for those who use certain acne medications, have  active acne, or are suffering from moderate to severe psoriasis or eczema.

Our approach is to reawaken your skin’s natural ability to regenerate whilst reducing visible signs of aging with the use of Ultherapy,  bio-stimulating fillers, medical peels and neuromodulator treatments . Our goal is to provide you with a solution which you are comfortable with minimal invasion yet maximum results.

Potential side effects

Following your PRP microneedling procedure, you may notice the following:

  • Redness and swelling, which is normal and will subside in a day or two.
  • Bruising
  • Temporary discomfort. Some level of discomfort during and after the PRP microneedling procedure is normal.
